the conundrum

These are the perfect earrings to wear to Gala tomorrow. (For those of you who aren’t in med school, this is basically prom for med students. But it’s called Gala. And if you call it prom, someone will rip your head off.) These earrings are a gift from my grandma, and I adore them, but they’re impossible to wear for more than 20 minutes because they’re clip ons.

And because my gmail is being wacky, I’m posting these pictures so that my aunt can take a look and let me know if I can use some pliers and superglue and magically turn them into regular post earrings. Because it’s as simple as that, right? I’m actually quite dextrous when it comes to my hands- I thank the years of piano playing- but with my thoracic outlet syndrome, my hands lack strength. Meaning, I tend to break things.

Wish me luck!

  1. I LOVE THEM! I also have some fab clip-ons from older relatives, and mine are sadly not amenable to diy conversion to pierced models. But I, undaunted, wear them till my ears become necrotic. I hope you can transform them! And if you can’t just pinch your ears every so often while you study to condition them! It repetitive short periods of oxygen deprivation can limit myocardial damage in event of a heart attack, it must work for ears in the event of clip-on attack! ;)
