I’ve been oscillating between studying in the library and at home. But then, sometimes I aggravate my thoracic outlet syndrome and I’m stuck at home studying and don’t have a choice at all. Today I’m studying at home because of my stupid hands, but also because I couldn’t get anything done yesterday. When it’s obvious that a computer lab is for SILENT STUDY, and there are multiple people actively studying in silence, how socially inept do you have to be to sit down with your friend and talk (loudly, not even indoor voices) about your homework assignment? Apparently you just have to be in med school. The magical four years that is reminiscent of high school but brings us back to the social skills of middle schoolers.
(Maybe they weren’t in med school, because I have yet to experience a homework assignment…)
But seriously. Is nothing sacred anymore? I had to move four times yesterday to try to find a silent place to study. Yes. It’s exam week. Nerves are at an all time high. (But the puppies did help.)
I’m not yet in med school but I find I have the same troubles…its quite aggrivating when people think everyplace on campus is their own little play land.
I distinctly remember telling someone to shut up on a Friday night in the library during undergrad!
Truue
I think the worst tus far though happened like 2 weeks ago though; it was crunch time right before a test and I was doing physics homework
Some freshman was in the computer lab playing around *as usual* and kicked the cords…all the computers in the lab died and it got real quiet as i slowly turned and glared at her
one of her friends said ‘guh u better run… she bout to kick yo ass’
Do med students not have their own computer lab? They sound like undergraduates, or early-year graduate students.
Yes we do. Either there was an infiltration (I used to study in the med school library in undergrad, it happens) or we had some unusually obnoxious classmates present. The higher you get in school, the more social skills you lose.
OMG! I never, EVER study at school for this exact reason. And, the OMG was also referring to the fact that med school has totally brought me back to high school…
It IS high school! I’m glad there are others who also enjoy studying from home. Most of my friends think I’m crazy
