Just kidding. Second year is brutal. Tomorrow I have my first exam of seven, which will occur every Monday (one is on a Tuesday because of Labor day). We will retain our usual vigor of 5-8 lecture hours a day. Welcome to second year.
I was recently talking to a family friend who graduated decades ago. Everyone’s favorite question is, “How’s medical school?” To which I don’t know the answer. I’ve finally settled on, “Once you accept that you have to study 12 hours a day, it’s not that bad.” Because it’s true. Don’t fight it. Just accept it.
This family friend proceeded to tell me, with nostalgia in his eyes, “I would do it all over again.” I almost choked on my french fries.
I’m going to pretend he was reminiscing about third and fourth year, because there’s no way he was referencing second year. On a positive note, I think I’m single-handedly supporting the local Subway. Ain’t nobody got time to cook. Here’s to supporting the economy!
